The UK’s longest running Musical Theatre Concert Tour is returning to the Victoria Theatre Halifax for its 20th Anniversary Tour.
Delivering the best of Broadway and the West End and featuring past principal performers from Les Miserables and of course a stunning finale from Les Mis.
The concert features David Fawcett (Valjean), Andy Reiss ( Enjolras & Resident Director for the National Tour of Les Miserables) Katie Leeming (Eponine) and Poppy Tierney (Cosette), together with a live band who capture the feel of the original orchestrations of the chosen musicals. To this day every musical note is still played and sung live – very rare indeed. Beyond the Barricade gives musical theatre songs a bold concert format treatment – but with the conviction and intention to deliver the material as if the audience are watching the original performance.
"The pièce de résistance is ‘One Day More’ - a song which is normally performed by eight principals, a 25 ensemble and a 40 piece orchestra. Beyond the Barricade has four singers and four musicians - it is simply an astonishing and spectacular performance." - Mid Sussex Times
"Everyone got what they came for and more. This was no mere sampler of the genre – these performers brought the depth of their collective experience and the essence of each musical into their performance, and boy, do they know how to please a crowd." - New Zealand. ‘The Stuff’
"A must-see show for musical fans". - Portsmouth News
"Everyone waits for the Les Miserable ending and it still amazes me how they perform One Day More with just the four of them. It has to be seen to be believed." - Crawley Observer
"Beyond the Barricade has been touring since 1999, and it’s easy to see why the show & cast have developed an almost cult-like following." -Stone Reviewer.
"Of course a show titled Beyond the Barricade would not be complete without songs from Les Mis itself, building to a stunning finale and an encore which earned the quartet a rapturous ovation." - Ipswich Star
