As the ECO musicians prepare for their appearance at Stage at the Lake in August, to celebrate the gifting of Shibden Hall park to the people of Calderdale, the orchestra continues its Culturedale journey with a concert performance in the heart of the community. 'Beyond the Lark' presents a unique opportunity to hear world class musicians deliver a programme of outstanding classics whilst supporting Calderdale Music to premier its brand-new youth ensemble.
A performance including Grieg's Holberg Suite, Beach's Romance and Elgar's Salut d'Amour will showcase the exquisite sound of the ECO strings before the orchestra's professionals join forces with young talents from the region, the professional musicians of the future, to deliver the first ever performance of a special arrangement of the English Dances by Malcolm Arnold.
Calderdale is a lead partner supporting English Chamber Orchestra's bold ambition to ensure music new and old reverberates around the towns, villages and cities of the nation. Beyond the Lark at Victoria Theatre is part of a long-term initiative that sees musicians from the orchestra connecting their recording and concert work with primary schools, secondary schools and community groups.
Growing from a commitment to the award-winning ‘Seeds of Hope’ initiative, the award-winning, landmark collaborations between ECO and the people of Calderdale are intended to welcome experienced concert goers and new listeners to enthralling encounters and activities featuring the highest quality music-making.
