Harriet Dyer
Harriet Dyer is an award-winning comedian, writer and mental health advocate. She has been a full time comic since 2013, after winning The Comedy Store King Gong and Who’s headline is it Anyway at Liverpool Envi in 2011.
Harriet’s got bipolar and does a lot of work through comedy to do with mental health. Her debut solo hour show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2014, Barking at Aeroplanes which was about her struggles within mental health, received rave reviews. She was so touched by the reaction it got, that she founded Barking Tales, a comedy show that acted as a safe space for sufferers. At Barking Tales shows, the acts do material about mental health and the people that come tend to have mental health issues themselves. It’s a safe-space and for a lot of regulars it’s the only social event they feel comfortable enough to go to. Barking Tales won the City Life Best Comedy Club in Manchester Award 2019.
Harriet also presents and produces the cult hit podcast, Don’t Worry, Bi (polar) Happy podcast which is about trying to focus on the ups amongst a lifetime of extreme ups and downs. With over half a million listeners, her show has even been recommended for mental health patients, due to its ability to change people’s perceptions.
